Frequently Asked Questions

IS PRIDE HAPPENING?

YES! San Francisco Pride is happening over a series of weekends in June 2021! We are also working with partner nonprofits and other groups on exciting events every weekend throughout the month of June.

The safety of the Bay Area's LGBTQ+ communities has always been our No. 1 priority. We have a number of exciting plans to announce in the weeks to come, including a Juneteenth event in solidarity with Black lives.

As of early March, COVID-19 cases have fallen dramatically in Northern California, vaccination rates are strong, and San Francisco has begun reopening in earnest. We know that visibility, camaraderie, and solidarity are what people love about Pride, and we have reason to believe that the worst will be behind us by June. So we’re hard at work on ways for our communities to celebrate Pride safely.

We are excited to share our full plans for 2021 with you in the weeks to come!

WILL PRIDE BE ALL-VIRTUAL LIKE IT WAS IN 2020?

Nope! In cooperation with our partners at the City, we are working on plans for exciting rallies and other Pride Month events that can be held safely outdoors, strictly adhering to social-distancing and other health protocols.

I COME EVERY YEAR FROM OUT OF TOWN. SHOULD I BOOK A HOTEL NOW?

We defer to public-health experts in all that we do, and at this time the CDC does not recommend unnecessary or leisure travel. For those who do choose to travel, we recommend gathering information from our friends at SF Travel.

Again, we know that Pride Weekend is when our communities come together. But given the advice of public health officials, many of the parties and secondary aspects of Pride Month are unlikely to happen, either.

WHAT ABOUT THE TRANS MARCH? WHAT ABOUT THE DYKE MARCH?

Commemorations of LGBTQ+ Pride are a community-wide effort. We love our siblings, the Trans March and the Dyke March, and they are separate volunteer-led organizations that make decisions independently of San Francisco Pride. We hope to return to a vibrant Pride weekend, with all the marches, when it is safe to do so!

WHAT ABOUT FRAMELINE?

While we are proud to partner with Frameline, the world’s largest LGBTQ+ film festival, it is a separate organization that makes decisions independently of San Francisco Pride.

WHAT IS PRIDE 365?

During the course of the past year, we have heard from many of you about the things you've missed. We have also seen members of the LGBTQ+ community really step up and lead. To stay connected, to shine a light on outstanding LGBTQ+ individuals, and show you what it takes to produce San Francisco Pride, we decided to launch a new initiative called SF Pride 365.

It’s several things at once: the revival of our print magazine Inside Pride as a series of video conversations, interviews with notable people called the Community Partner Spotlight, and a podcast called The Queerness.
