Program Associate

San Francisco Pride is seeking an Program Associate to provide ongoing support to San Francisco Pride Staff and Contractor teams. This hourly position is between 25 and 40 hours a week, depending on production cycle, and nonexempt. The ideal candidate must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, as well as help manage a fast-paced event-based schedule with professionalism, maturity, confidence, and a sense of humor

The Program Associate reports to the Deputy Executive Director (DED); however, experience and comfort working with multiple teams in a variety of capacities is often necessary.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Synthesize and handle important, often confidential information in a professional and considerate manner.
  • Work collaboratively with various teams, team members, and Board members, at the direction of the DED, to support the production of the annual Pride Celebration and Parade.
  • Help plan organizational events, meetings, and team-building activities or special projects.
  • Provide timely and professional office support, including professional and courteous management of incoming calls and electronic correspondence; photocopying, faxing, and shipping.
  • Assist in the processing of routine administrative paperwork, in compliance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Provide requested research for upcoming projects, initiatives, and opportunities.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of volunteers and interns.
  • Support the Executive Director and other team members with data entry related to stakeholder and donor/sponsor data management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND QUALITIES

  • Nonprofit experience or a demonstrated record that matches this experience.
  • AA/AS degree or demonstrated field experience.
  • Commitment to the mission and programming of San Francisco Pride, and experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, individuals, and other culturally diverse populations. Particular preference for those familiar with Bay Area LGBTQ+ organizations and communities.
  • Strong communication skills including note taking, writing, proofreading, editing.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to use good judgement, observe and learn quickly, and make recommendations to find solutions.
  • Capacity for relationship-building, and a team player willing to take on additional tasks within reason.
  • Exceptional time-management skills with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload.

Wages and Benefits

This is a 25-40 hour/week position, based at SF Pride's offices in the Upper Mission/SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco. The pay is ($25-35/hour) commensurate with experience. Medical, dental, vision, and vacation benefits are included.

Digital Experience Intern

San Francisco Pride is seeking a Digital Experience Intern to join our team. The Digital Experience Intern will work closely with Marketing and Communications to develop and enhance our online presence, including our website, social media, and digital marketing efforts. The ideal candidate is a creative and motivated individual with experience in digital marketing, content creation, and web design.

The Digital Experience Intern reports to the Deputy Executive Director (DED); however, experience and comfort working with multiple teams in a variety of capacities is often necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department to develop and execute digital marketing campaigns that drive engagement and support Pride's mission.
  • Create engaging content for social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Assist with website updates and maintenance, including content creation, design, and user experience improvements.
  • Monitor and analyze social media and website analytics to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.
  • Assist with the creation of digital assets, including graphics, videos, and other visual content.
  • Support the development and execution of virtual events and online fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including event production and sponsorship, to ensure a cohesive and effective digital experience for all Pride stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications and Qualities:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including copywriting and editing.
  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design software.
  • Knowledge of web design principles, including HTML, CSS, and content management systems.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Passion for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice issues.

Business Administration Intern

This position will provide support to the Executive Director and other members of the leadership team by assisting with a variety of administrative and operational tasks. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.

The Business Administration Intern reports to the Deputy Executive Director (DED); however, experience and comfort working with multiple teams in a variety of capacities is often necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks, such as managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and preparing reports
  • Support the Executive Director with fundraising and development efforts, including research, database management, and donor communication
  • Conduct market research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of activities and events
  • Assist with the planning and execution of events, including logistics, vendor coordination, and event setup/breakdown
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Production Intern

San Francisco Pride is looking for a Production Intern to support our event production team in the planning and execution of the annual Pride Celebration and Parade. As a Production Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in event production and learn about the inner workings of one of the largest LGBTQ+ events in the world.

The Production Intern reports to the Deputy Executive Director (DED); however, experience and comfort working with multiple teams in a variety of capacities is often necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of various events leading up to the Pride Celebration and Parade, including meetings, rehearsals, and site visits.
  • Assist in the logistics and setup of event venues, stages, and equipment.
  • Provide support for production team members during event execution, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Assist with coordinating event volunteers and staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of event details and tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant college or university program or recently graduated.
  • Experience in event production, stage management, or related field is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, during the Pride Celebration and Parade.
  • Knowledge and interest in LGBTQ+ issues and culture is a plus.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Celebration Committee, Inc. is a nonprofit membership-based organization founded to produce the San Francisco Pride Parade and Celebration. SF Pride is dedicated to education, celebration, liberation, and commemoration of our community's heritage. This community includes Queer, Trans, Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Intersex, and Asexual (TLGBQIA+) individuals.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a strong background and demonstrated evidence of engaging with the community, building partnerships, and planning with the goal of achieving equity and justice for the TLGBQIA+ community. They must have experience in staff and volunteer management, planning, financial management skills, a proven track record in raising funds, experience with local government agencies, and sponsorships. A background in large-scale event production, contingency planning is required. The candidate should be a proven consensus-builder and collaborator able to clearly articulate SF Pride's goals and policies to the public and elected officials. Experience in conflict resolution, facilitation, and advocating for under-represented groups will be highly valued.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SF Pride Production

  • Manage and provide strategic direction for all aspects of SF Pride production, including staffing, fundraising, program development, planning and logistics, marketing and media relations, and community partnerships.
  • Maintain a working relationship with community, civic, and business leaders, which encourages and facilitates engagement in SF Pride.
  • Ensure the SF Pride Parade and Celebration reflects the organization's vision and mission, while promoting and facilitating participation of the diverse TLGBQIA+ community as well as the broad community of San Francisco.

Vision and Strategic Development

  • Lead in the development of a collective vision rooted in SF Pride's core values and based on an assessment of the changing conditions that influence the impact, relevancy and sustainability of the organization and the annual celebration.
  • In partnership with the Board of Directors, lead SF Pride through planning that determines strategies and action steps required to pursue our vision.
  • Collaborate with Board of Directors, staff, contractors, members and community in the visioning and strategic planning process.

Fundraising

  • Responsible for primary fundraising strategies — including oversight of execution of fundraising, grant writing, and cultivating donor, government, and corporate sponsor relations for the SF Pride events and general operations.
  • Work closely with Board to develop and implement a fundraising and development plan.
  • Cultivate fundraising relationships that promote community social responsibility and organizational financial sustainability

Financial and Organizational Management

  • Develop and efficiently manage budgets, accounts, billings, and overall fiscal management, in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Strong financial leadership to manage a portfolio of diverse revenue streams.
  • Ensure maintenance of official records of SF Pride activities and meetings, and filing of quarterly reports with the board.
  • Support the Board of Directors to successfully carry out its roles and meet its goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with and among Board members, and between Board and staff.

Staff, Volunteer, Member and Contractor Management

  • Recruit and supervise staff, interns, and contractors.
  • Ensure training and professional development of staff and volunteers, in compliance with local, state and federal human resource policies.
  • Create a fabulous work environment where people feel valued and enjoy coming to work.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

  • Serve as a spokesperson for SF Pride.

  • Raise the public profile of SF Pride's ongoing community activities and programming.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Large-scale event production and management experience.
  • Non-profit management experience.
  • Demonstrated evidence of non-profit leadership.
  • Demonstrated evidence in successful fundraising.
  • Experience leading, building, and working effectively with a diverse Board of Directors.
  • Track record of advocacy on issues related to the TLGBQIA+ community.
  • Experience building relationships with diverse community members and organizations that highlight the needs and values of underserved and under-represented groups within the TLGBQIA+ community
  • Experience working with the TLGBQIA+ community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
