2014 marks the 44th anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Celebration & Parade. The event will be held over the weekend of June 28th and 29th, 2014. The two-day Celebration & Parade is the largest LGBT gathering in the United States. Such a large community event couldn’t take place were it not for the more than 1,000 volunteers who help in the office, at the Parade, and on the Celebration site.
The SF Pride values quite deeply the diversity of our communities and the accessibility of the event. Volunteers contribute greatly to our ability to keep the event economically accessible to all and rely on donations at the event gates.
Additionally, volunteers make a very direct impact on Pride's capacity to support non-profit groups and to give back to the community by helping us to maintain a safe, exciting, and economically viable event. Volunteers have helped Pride to return nearly $2.3 million dollars back to the community since 1997.
In addition to having an opportunity to meet dozens of other community-minded individuals, volunteers enjoy a number of perks. These include:
- An invitation to the Volunteer and Member Appreciation Party where volunteers will have the chance to win numerous prizes and enjoy free food and entertainment
- Food and water at Pride
- A gift bag filled with various goods from Pride's sponsors and exhibitors
- Access to a private rest area at Pride with restroom facilities
- A volunteer tee-shirt (sizes depend on availability)
