Joey Greenwell

"There is no other organization I would prefer to serve in this capacity than SF Pride. I believe my passion for the LGBTQQI community, diverse experience, ability to foster change, and strong work ethic will contribute substantially to the San Francisco community. Throughout my career, I have fostered environments of shared governance and transparency in order to develop successful organizations and empower others. I understand that this is a crucial time for SF Pride. I am confident that I have the knowledge and skillset to be a strong addition to the Board, enhancing the SF Pride experience."

Non-Profit Board Membership Experience:

I currently serve on two boards (one for 3 years and one for 1 year) within the University. As Dean of Students, I provide each board expertise in leadership training, University policies and procedures, and advisement on how to connect with the larger community.

Other LGBT Movement or Organizational Experience:

I’ve served as a mentor to LGBTQQI students and professionals throughout my career, including serving as Development Chair on ACPA’s Standing Committee for LGBT Awareness and founding a regional conference in 1998 for LGBTQQI students, faculty and staff. I recently served as keynote speaker at the University’s inaugural Lavender Graduation.

Professional/Work Experience:

I have been fortunate to work in higher education throughout my career. Coming from a student activities background, I have over 20 years of event planning experience including concerts, conferences, art festivals, and major stage productions.

Education or Training:

I have a bachelors in music and psychology and masters in education. I have been involved with leadership and event planning for over 20 years.
