"Gary’s a former SF Pride Community Grand Marshal, Judges Coordinator and Main Stage MC. He and Donna Sachet co-founded the Annual Pride Brunch 15 years ago netting $42,000 this year. If elected, he intends to improve SF Pride as a “member-driven” organization, believing the wealth of creativity and passion in San Francisco has yet to be fully tapped to produce a world-class event that WOWS young and old alike. Democracy, transparency and accountability are critical to him. His extensive skills in networking, community building, fundraising and grassroots activism combine to make him an excellent Board candidate."
Non-Profit Board Membership Experience:
Gary played a critical role as a Board Member for six years for Positive Resource Center during a merger, financial challenges and facing closure. He chaired the Fundraising Committtee for five years, founded an Annual Gala, and was Board President. He is on their Advisory Board for the past 15 years. He serves on the Advisory Board of SF Bay Times and has written for numerous publications. He served on the SF Human Rights Commission LGBT Advisory Committee and San Francisco HIV Planning Council.

Gary has extensive experience in community building, fundraising and activism; is openly gay and an HIV/AIDS survivor of 25 years. He founded a charitable Mardi Gras club 10 years ago and holds memberships in: ACLU, Americans for Safe Access, Amnesty International, Gays Without Borders, Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, Imperial Council of SF, Media Alliance, MoveOn, Out4Immigration, Sierra Club.
Gary has worked in University Development at four universities, was a Gallery Director generating close to $2 million in annual sales, and held management positions in the hospitality industry earning multiple awards. He’s also a well-sought-after writer, MC, speaker, promoter and event producer.
