PSF Pride & EqualityActionNow.Org Issue Call to Action Against Prop 8 Work Walk-Out & Boycott Look to Make a National Statement on December 10 SAN FRANCISCO - 26 November 2008 ‑ The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee is calling for all its community members, stakeholders, and allies together with its sister Pride organizations throughout the nation to publicize and join in the National Day Without Gay, December 10, 2008. This is a national protest supporting the fight for civil rights for the LGBT community and is part of the grassroots surge against Proposition 8 in California. The San Francisco Pride Celebration Committee is calling on all people to join in this action. The Pride Committee has joined with EqualityActionNOW.org in the action. Pride is suggesting several ways to participate in the Wednesday, December 10, 2008, action, including: Talking about civil rights with co-workers, neighbors, family, and strangers; Volunteering for a worthy LGBT cause; Not shopping (except at LGBT-friendly business); Not spending money or using credit or debit cards (except at LGBT-friendly businesses); Not going to work (if you need to work, please wear an emblem in support of the day, e.g., a white ribbon with a knot reflecting the knot of marriage). San Francisco Pride would like to encourage all our communities to take part in this action in order to show that we are united and will not be silenced when it comes to calling for Liberty and Justice for all. This is a grassroots action and we are calling on those in our communities who can translate the call to action into other languages to please do so and disseminate. The Pride Committee has posted information regarding Proposition 8 and the National Day Without Gay at sfpride.org/hope. ###
