November 1, 2001 So You Wanna Do A Stage?
Pride President, Cecilia Chung, said: Its the communitys chance to be creative and come up with some new and exciting additions for the Pride Celebration." Proposals must be in writing and delivered to the Pride Committees offices before the end of the month. In the past few years many of the new stages at the event have been created in this way. Last year saw the birth of the Nectar (Womens Stage) and Soul of Pride (African-American Stage) venues. Previously, the Asian & Pacific Islander Stage, Faerie Freedom Village, Show Palace Stage, Swing Stage and Latin Stage have all been added to the event via this process. Commenting, Pride Vice-President Calvin Gipson said: Its exciting when the community comes forth to make the Pride event their own. The full process is described on the SF Pride website www.sfpride.org. Click on the banner So You Wanna Do A Stage on the home page. Proposals must describe how the mission of SF Pride will be served, how the venue will be set up, and, how it will be funded. Great ideas are one thing, but what we are looking for in the proposals is also a coherent fundraising plan to make those dreams a reality . SF LGBT Pride 2002 takes place over the weekend of June 29 and 30, 2002. The event theme is Be Yourself, Change The World. ENDS |
