Major Events:		Lyndon LaRouche together with the Prevent AIDS Now Initiative Committee (PANIC) gathered signatures to have Proposition 64, the AIDS Quarantine Proposition, placed on the ballot in California in November 1988. While supporters of Proposition 64 argued that the virus that causes AIDS can be transmitted by mosquitoes, bed bugs, and other insects, the Proposition was soundly defeated 71% to 29%.
