Frank served as a member of the House of Representatives from the state of Massachusetts from 1981 to 2013, serving as chairman of the Financial Services Committee from 2007-2011. Coming out while in office in 1987, Frank is considered the most prominent gay politician in the United States.

EJ JOHNSON III

Son of legendary basketball star Earvin “Magic” Johnson, 22 year-old EJ Johnson is taking the fashion world by storm. EJ appears in E! Entertainment’s hit reality series #Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. This spring, Johnson launched his own fashion blog, EJ Johnson Style.

A partner in the Litigation Department of Paul, Weiss, LLP, Kaplan successfully argued the case of her client Edie Windsor before the United States Supreme Court. In its landmark decision in United States v. Windsor, the Supreme Court ruled that a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) violated equal protection principles of the United States Constitution.

The consequences of the Windsor decision have been both rapid and profound. At least 18 lower courts throughout the United States, including in Ohio, New Mexico, Kentucky, Texas and Utah, have held, relying on Windsor, that gay couples should be accorded equal rights under the law.

JANET MOCK
CELEBRITY GRAND MARSHAL
Writer and founder of the #Girlslikeus project, Mock’s memoir: Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More, is a New York Times best-seller. While working as an editor at People.com, Mock opened up about her life as a young trans woman in Marie Claire in 2011, which sparked her work as an activist.
